Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Warrick?read=1205 Surname: MATTHEWS, MCCOOL ------------------------- I have some information on Job(e) Matthews. I have that he was born 1772 in MD. He was on the Nelson Co., KY Tax lists from 1797 to 1799. From 1800 to 1819, he was listed on the Muhlenberg Co., KY Tax lists. The place of residence was Cypress Creek. He bought 160 acres of land (Twp. 6, Range 8, Sec. 13) in Warrick Co., IN on 14 Nov 1818. Since he is still listed in Muhlenberg tax lists of 1819, I am not sure when he actually moved to Warrick Co. He did serve on a grand jury in Warrick Co. on 25 May 1820. Job and his family were founding members of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, founded in 1825. They were still members in 1839. Job died 26 Mar 1851 in Warrick Co. His wife Priscilla was born circa 1774. I don't have a death date for her. Some believe that Job was the son of George Matthews and Anne Polly Paul. George was born 30 Aug 1739 in Augusta Co., VA. He married Anne Polly on 13 Sep 1762 (not sure where). She died in 1788. By 1784 George was in Georgia and by 1797 he was in Mississippi. He died 30 Aug 1812 at Augusta, GA. George was a govenor (I believe first) of Georgia. I have found no proof for this relationship between George and Job. I am related through Job's daughter Susannah. She was born in 1812 and married William Allensworth on 11 Feb 1830 in Warrick Co., IN. They appear on Census records in 1830 for Ohio Twp., Spencer Co., IN. William died in 1835 and his estate was probated on 11 May 1835 in Spencer Co., IN. She remarried 10 Oct. 1837 in Warrick Co. to John McCool. They had a daughter, Susannah McCool, who was born 6 Oct. 1843 in Warrick Co. In the 1850 and 1860 census of Warrick Co., Susannah McCool was living with the Aaron Matthews family (her uncle). Both Susannah Matthews and John McCool were dead before 1850. Susannah McCool married Samuel Feagley on 30 Apr 1867 in Warrick Co.
