I'm not sure how it works but I know I have found some things at that site which aren't correct so it's a possibility. I would correct it if I knew how but I don't. > Has anyone had reason to question the reliability of the IGI index of >the LDS site? YES!!! The LDS Family History accepts anything that is submitted to them -- they do not verify. Their records are only as accurate as those who submitted the data. Case in point -- a distant cousin sent information on her great grandmother saying the lady was a twin to Nancy. Harriett was born two years LATER than Nancy. If we hadn't persued the families, we would not have learned the truth. Another source mentions that my husband's grandmother died in 1905. Funny -- she gave birth in 1908 and then died a month later. We use ancestry.com, LDS records, and any other data found on the Internet ONLY as a guide. Verify for yourself -- the LDS folks don't!! We also found information that a WRIGHT family was in Richmond, Virgin Islands. It should have been Virginia, but whoever submitted the data used VI for the abbreviation which is Virgin Islands. We called it to the attention the lady in charge at the Family History Center and she said no one can change it except for the person who submitted the data. DUH! It's blatantlly wrong but they could care less. Some system!! Sandra and Lowell Tennyson (researching the Tennyson, Skelton, Powers, Scales families in Warrick and Spencer Co., Indiana.
