    1. [INWARRIC] MATTHEWS / SHULL / DANIEL / LEE, WARRICK COUNTY
    2. Hello! I am new to this list today. Recent research and assistance from other MATTHEWS / MATHEWS researchers has led me to the family of Job and Priscilla MATTHEWS who died in Warrick County, Indiana in the mid-1800s. I descend from Jacob MATTHEWS who appears to be their son. Here is what I know about him. My Jacob was born 1790-1800. Married Katherine SHULL in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky 2 Sept. 1819. Moved to White County, Illinois before 1830. In 1830 he is listed as one of the first members of the Mt. Pleasant Church at Burnt Prairie, Illinois. 1830 Federal Census of White County, Illinois: Page 25, Line 4, for Jacob MATHEWS family: 1 male, aged 30-40 (born 1790-1800) 1 male, under 5 years (born 1825-1830) 1 female, aged 30-40 (born 1790-1800) 1 female, aged 10-15 (born 1815-1820) 2 females, aged 5-10 (born 1820-1825) We cannot find Jacob MATTHEWS on the 1840 or the 1850 census of White County, Illinois, but his wife is there with children. Then we found in the old Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Records at Burnt Prairie, Illinois the following minutes recorded . . . April 1838: . . . "in as much as Bro. Jacob MATTHEWS left his family for several years and has not returned and not knowing whether he is dead or alive, this Church drops fellowship with him." After this declaration by their church, and without apparent benefit of divorce or pronunciation of death, Katherine MATTHEWS married William BOTTOMS, 10 Nov 1839, White County, Illinois. Ceremony was performed by George HUNSINGER, J.P. We have more information on the children of this Jacob MATTHEWS. Can any of you see that this Jacob is the son of Job and Priscilla MATTHEWS of Warrick County, Indiana? He named one of his daughters Susannah MATTHEWS who married James Henry LEE, and I believe another was named Priscilla MATTHEWS who married Reece DANIEL , both marriages taking place in White County, Illinois. I will be most appreciative of any help. Debbie McArdle
