All too often, we are handed information that is nothing more than pure guesstimates that, unfortunately, is being copied and recopied time and time again, until it is becoming sanctified by repetition.

    2. Thanks, Tamara, for the information on Laura Belle's burial. The other Scales near her are her daughter Hazel and her mother and father in law. You see, this daughter Hazel possibly committed suicide. Laura Belle winds up in a mental hospital and dies there. Laura Belle was supposed to be mean and quite dangerous most of her married life. There was a niece to Laura Belle who also, definitely, committed suicide. This is why the family wants to get to the bottom of this. There are other female family members with moderate to severe mental disabilities and this all seems to only run in the females. We'd like to know what is going on. Thanks so much! 2. Hello everyone, I sure don't know why my message board answers and emails are coming through with 2 different email addresses. I had subscribed to the Warrick county list years ago, then switched email and just started posting again. Anyhow, my posts seem to be coming from both Kajapeople@aol.com plus FastAsYou7@aol.com, which are both me. LOL. Thanks, Kathie Davis

    3. > How are you related to Jacob Skelton, Sr. I was surprised to see that William Skelton's Sarah was a Scales before her marriage. I would be interested in learning your documentation for this, as well as your connetion to their second known eldest son, Jacob. It's interesting to note that William SKELTON's wife is listed as Sarah Scales. Some Skelton researchers say her maiden name is unknown, others say it was SIMS. We have found no proof of ANY maiden name to date. William's son Zachariah married two SCALES. First Nancy Jane and then an Elizabeth, according to most records we have found. Proof of Sarah's maiden name would be most welcome by many!! Sandra

I had looked, already, and couldn't find it on the website but that doesn't mean there wasn't one. I'm sure there could have been an oversight but then, again, because of her supposed mental state, they may not have put one in. What I really need is the death certificate and her medical records if possible. I'll keep on looking! :-) Thanks, Kathie

I don't understand why there appears to be no death certificate for Laura Belle Scales. I wonder if they recorded it wrong and put Williams instead? I saw that done in PA once. I've bookmarked the site you sent and will check it out this evening. I am on lunch break and able to check mail and the sites. Does anyone have access to the Warrick records who could look to see if that's where she died? Also, I'm wondering if the family didn't pass along confusing information and think she died in the hospital, there in Evansville, rather than somewhere in Warrick County instead. Looks like I have my work cut out for me. I need to go through Tamara's site and see if I can find her burial place and name of the funeral home (Ha....good luck on that one, eh?) I've searched the obit records and can't find one for her with either name, nor her husband. I may have to resort to Indianapolis to see if they have anything. Thanks for your ! help. Kathie

I thought it was very educational of the past ideas the doctors had of researching mental illness and the treatment. May

I have found a couple of hospitals in the area. I can't remember the correct names or the website I found the information. Surnames: MARSHALL WILLIAMS SCALES HULL PHILLIPS GENTRY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Si.2ADI/1496 Message Board Post: Hello, I am searching my great grandfather, Thomas Shafer WILLIAMS and his wife Sarah Ann MARSHALL. They lived in Warrick County after most of their children were born. Thomas & Sarah were married in Brown Co., IN on 4th January 1844 and moved to Warrick County some time afterward. They had the following children, James Albert, Mary (E?), Laura Belle, William Wade, Oscar Hedden, Wanie Presley, Lyttie M, Hensley and Letta M. I have information that Laura Belle, who married a John Scales on 9 March 1896, died 25 March 1959 in a mental hospital, very possibly in Vanderburgh County (probably Evansville). I need, for genealogy reasons and for health reasons, to find out her diagnosis (I have been told she was always mean and "crazy") and her cause of death. If anyone is researching any of these Williams family or knows how I can obtain these records, I would be deeply grateful. Thanks, Kathie

    3. Hi Group, As I looked through the Supplemental Birth Records and the Birth Records from the Microfiche, I realized that they were different! I've changed the web to reflect those differences. Thanks again to Lora Radishes, who sent in the microfiche records. Also thanks again to Samantha Miley, who was working on the supplemental birth records. If any of you has some free time during this holiday season (Ha!), and would like to help Samantha out with the birth records, please let me know! You would have to live near Warrick in order to xerox the supplemental birth record index. Thanks again, Marsha http://us-gen.org/in/warrick
