He was born in France. His wife was from Germany. We know he was in Louisville, KY in 1846. His daughter, Margaret Louise Metz was born in there in 1846. She married John Wesley Ostrander in Chicago in 1866. My grandfather, Henry Matthew Metz was born in Louisville, KY in 1850, later settled in Illinois. Could Henry and Margaret be brother and sister? Also; are there other siblings? Henry Matthew Metz married Sarah Ellen Bartley in Newton, Il in 1871 (Jasper County) We're pretty sure Henry had at least one brother, who possibly settled in South Dakota. My dad, Charles Henry Metz often told the story of an uncle who went west and ended up in SD.

I can send you copies of what I have and will have when I get it, if you would like.

That doesn't mean some of my gg grandfather's brothers and sisters didn't go to Gibson County. I'll have to get my Hull research book out and see if there is any reference to Gibson County. I am just leaving for work so I won't be able to look until tonight, perhaps. I may go out of town until late though so it may be the weekend before I can look. I know my gggrandfather had a lot of brothers and sisters as did his father so it's very possible. Kathie
