We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. 2. We recently received a note in the mail list about the work of the Primative Baptist Library. This link has been placed in the Warrick page and this section will be used for future links of this nature. If you know of any Warrick churches that have web sites send them to me and I'll place them in the page. At this time there is no information on Warrick members at this site. If you would like to contribute and help this site out contact the web master at the bottom of the page. Also you might want to check the site out as there are several other states listed on their main research page. Gilbert

    2. One IGI sourse has my g-grand father born in Warrick County Kentucky. And that same IGI stated that my 8th g-grandfather died without issue...so where am I? Everyone is right to suspect that information somewhat though it may be well intended. While there is good information there nothing can compete with seeing the source for yourself. So if you can, use the micro fische to find your relatives and order the films from those. That will put you on the real track.

    3. The IGI records from source documents such as marriage records are generally good. However I would caution that you double check anything you get from others when possible. Even things written in stone can be wrong. One of my wife's ancestors back in Vermont has his genealogy carved on his tombstone. But, the carver or the provider of the information got two generations transposed. The writer of a genealogy of this family created a whole new ancestor to explain this family and it was picked up by other books and some believe it to this day. The error was discovered by noted genealogist Jacobus a few years later and he even found where a "missing" generation had lived in a different town for a while. Unfortunately, the correction never seems to get as wide distribution as the error. That is not the only case. Another of my wife's ancestors had her birth date of 1873 written as 1875 on her tombstone. This means she was born 2 years after her father died! Another example. When the marriage records for Monroe Co. Indiana were transcribed, Willis Lamb was written as Willis Lane. It to me years to find that marriage. 3. I never take other people's info as gospel. What you receive is just a guide to find the truth. I try to get as much info as possible and then start looking for myself. I know for a certainty that some of the LDS info is incorrect. Also some of the DAR info is incorrect. All these files were submitted by individuals to join these groups. So it all depends on how careful the person doing the research was. Some of the research was hired out so the researcher wasn't that careful. The only sure way to do it, is to document everything if your are serious about your family tree. Anyone can be kin to dukes and earls, but it takes a real person to be kin to a horse-thief. 2. Lowell Tennyson
    3. > Has anyone had reason to question the reliability of the IGI index of >the LDS site? YES!!! The LDS Family History accepts anything that is submitted to them -- they do not verify. Their records are only as accurate as those who submitted the data. Case in point -- a distant cousin sent information on her great grandmother saying the lady was a twin to Nancy. Harriett was born two years LATER than Nancy. If we hadn't persued the families, we would not have learned the truth. Another source mentions that my husband's grandmother died in 1905. Funny -- she gave birth in 1908 and then died a month later. We use ancestry.com, LDS records, and any other data found on the Internet ONLY as a guide. Verify for yourself -- the LDS folks don't!! We also found information that a WRIGHT family was in Richmond, Virgin Islands. It should have been Virginia, but whoever submitted the data used VI for the abbreviation which is Virgin Islands. We called it to the attention the lady in charge at the Family History Center and she said no one can change it except for the person who submitted the data. DUH! It's blatantlly wrong but they could care less. Some system!! Sandra and Lowell Tennyson (researching the Tennyson, Skelton, Powers, Scales families in Warrick and Spencer Co., Indiana.

    2. OOops, I meant to send this to the whole list ....... hehehe However, if someone else sends in something different then it will be changed again. Therefore, I don't take IGI files as the "gospel". I only use them as a reference to check out.....which is what we should do with all data that we find on the internet unless there is documented proof....then that should be checked out also. >> The film numbers on the IGI starting with C are actual Christening records and the F numbers mean something else but, I beleive are also trustworthy, however, the rest of them are questionable as I understand it. 2. When doing research at our local LDS library, I found some mistakes on the IGI microfiche and mentioned it to one of the volunteers. They told me that the material on the IGI site is submitted by individuals. It may not be correct but that's all they have to go on. If you find a mistake, you can write to them and they will change it. However, if someone else sends in something different then it will be changed again. Therefore, I don't take IGI files as the "gospel". I only use them as a reference to check out.....which is what we should do with all data that we find on the internet unless there is documented proof....then that should be checked out also. Phoebe
