Greetings List Members, Been hung up too long. Searching all lists for connections to RASUREs.. There are multiple spellings as I'm sure ya'll are aware of. My bunch is from around the Ohio Valley area. Common lore has it three brothers immigrated to the states. After awhile they separated, one staying in the Ohio Valley area, one moving to the Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma area, yet another going farther west. I'm stuck at great grand father, not much to brag about for ten years of research, JOHN W. RASURE, b.1850 in KY, d.1913 also KY.....Married ISABELLE STOCKINGS, b. 1854 Warrick County, IND, d. 1897 Evansville, IND. When she died they were obviously in IND..They had children: EFFIE MAE BURT D. SHIRL D. JASPER LEWIS CARL J. WILLIAM FRANK BESSIE MONTIE WILLIAM HARRY Upon ISABELLE'S death JOHN remarried to MARY "MOLLIE" ELIZABETH NAVE..This union produced yet another son for JOHN. ARTHUR Miss NAVE had a sister BELLE NAVE I apologize for the lengthiness of this posting. I'm at wits end...... MICKEY in NASHVILLE
There are three new links in the Warrick main page. In the local information section just under the picture of Ratliff Boon are the three links. They are for Warrick towns, Warrick ALHN (American Local History Network) and Warrick Townships. To go directly to the ALHN site use the below link. http://www.rootsweb.com/~inwarri2/home.htm If anyone has information they would like to add to these new pages just drop a line. Also anything pertaining to the history of Warrick county can go in the ALHN pages or be linked to there. Gilbert

It's been a while since we have posted information on Schmitt research. Here is the latest update if you don't already have this. 1) Jacob Schmitt b. abt. 1628 m. Eva Brumber 2) Jacob Schmitt b. 23 Apr 1660 Schoenau m. Anna Maria Gerster 3) Nicholas Schmitt b. 6 Dec 1691 Schoenau m. Anna Frantz 4) Anton Schmitt b. 9 Jul 1722 Schoenau m. Catherina Krob 5) Frantz Joseph Schmitt b. 18 Jan 1768 Schoenau m. Maria Barbara Bootz 6) Johanne Baptist Schmitt b. 24 Jun 1798 Alsace Schoenau m. Maria Anna Steibli b. 8 Nov 1898 Alsace Artolsheim. Children: Frantz Joseph b. 8 Nov 1822 ( my g-grandfather) (Father of Eugene who m. Theresa) Veronica b. 29 Aug 1823 (grandmother of Archabbot Ignace Esser of St. Meinrad) Johannes Baptist b. 9 apr 1825 (stayed in France) Madeliene b. 8 Jun 1827 (lost track) Stephan b. 20 May 1830 (first of the family to come here) Benjamin b. 26 Mar 1832 m. Margaret Botzman Louise b. 1 Aug 1834 (lost track) Nicholas b. 23 Oct 1836 m. Paulina Mohr Albert b. 27 Mar 1841 m. Margaret Tieken Eugene Issac b. 5 Oct 1843 m. Margaret Huntsinger (ask for Schmitt family bible at Willard) All children were born in Artolsheim. I have copies of all birth records plus copies of records of all in this family line back to 1640's. This work was done by myself, Adele and Walt over the last four years. Frantz Joseph is the g-g-grandfather of Adele and Walt (we are 2nd cousins). Adele and I have been working from here and Walt was using the Allen County library in Ft. Wayne. Pam Gries has also made some important discoveries while working on the Albert Schmitt line. Some of the LDS films had so much information that we had them kept at the FHC in Evansville so we could return to them if needed. Adele and myself working together here was quite handy. While we both read Latin, Adele did the French records and I did the German records. >From 1640 to 1792 the records were kept by the church and written in medieval Latin. After 1792 the records kept by the government and were in long hand in either French or German. In 1811 a change to a fill in form in French was used. A very helpful part is that a woman always went by her maiden name in official records. This made it easy to trace the female lines so our research is spread very wide. We have been in contact with a Charles Schmitt of France who descends from the Johanne Baptist that stayed there. No pertinent information has come from Charles. Everything I have is available to those interested. I have met with several people at Willard of the past few years and shared information with them. There is also a puzzle we have been unable to solve. There is an Ignati Schmitt b. Schoenau 1828 and d. 1904 buried at St. Wendel. This Ignati is in the family line and married a Maria Sigwalt in Schoenau. He is the g-grandson of Anton Schmitt and Catherina Krob. We are looking for information about him at this time.

Hey to the list... I have imported a 'gedcom' which I have since determined is not part of my family. Now it's in my way - I don't know how to get around it to my own family. How can I export it to limbo? Step by step, please, and thanks in advance. Cookie, in Florida

Hi Group, Jerri Houston sent in the list of people buried in Bethabra Cemetery! The oldest person buried there was born in the late 1700's!!! She's also added lots of information from obituaries, etc. Because she has access to cemetery records, she found some names that they think may be buried in the cemetery that have not been on previous cemetery lists! Check it out! Find the links on the Cemetery pages or "What's New" Marsha's Warrick Web http://us-gen.org/in/warrick
