    3. Dayton Items Lafayette Weekly Journal April 24, 1903 The eighth year class of Sheffield took examination last Saturday. The High school also had a class for graduation. The Dayton base ball team organized last Tuesday evening and promises to be a winner. The suits will be furnished by the Hub, and grounds have been secured from Simon Newhard. George Glaze, who has been ill for some time with tonsillitis, is now able to be out. Rev. Palmer [of the Presbyterian church] has handed in his resignation, to take effect July 1. All feel that the community has lost an important factor for good by his removal. He will take charge of a department in Winona. Mr. Widmer has sold his gravel pit to the street car company. D. L. Thompson has moved to Kirkland, where he has bought the telephone system. Master Fred Paul is the happy possessor of a new tricycle, which was presented to him on his fifth birthday last Sunday. His grandfather, Mr. Paul, was the giver. Quite a number of our citizens were in the city last Wednesday attending the Dryer vs. Dryer trial. Messrs. Glaze, Paul and Sharpe are erecting a barn for Mr. Korty of the Brady neighborhood. William Adams has moved to Delphi where he will make his future home. The Aid Society met last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Sharpe for a day’s sewing.
