Lafayette Journal, Wednesday, December 10, 1910 Lawrence Nicely Dies at Dayton Lawrence Nicely, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Dayton died at his home in that village at 9’oclock Tuesday night as a result of nephritis. He had been in poor health for the past three years. Mr. Nicely had been engaged in the mercantile business at Dayton for a quarter of a century and is widely known in Tippecanoe and Clinton counties. For seventeen years he was postmaster and had been agent for the T. H. L. & E. traction company since the interurban line was constructed. The deceased was vice-president of the Bank of Dayton and was actively interested in every community enterprise. He was a member of the F. & A. M, I.O.O.F., and K. of P. lodges at Dayton, and a member of the Lafayette Aerie of Eagles. The surviving relatives include the widow and one son, Max, Mrs. Shannon Nicely, mother of the deceased, and two brother, Rev. John Nicely, of Chicago, and Dr. William P.
