At an early day she moved with her parents to Indiana. She was the widow of Rev. George Davis, who was a member of Upper Wabash Conference, and who preceded her to the heavenly Canaan only a few years. She was converted in her seventeenth year, joined the United Brethren Church and was an honored member until her death. She was considerably afflicted the last years of her life, but endured all patiently. During her sickness she was often heard praying for wisdom, that she might be enabled to do the will of God. Ministers of Upper Wabash Conference will long remember the home of Brother and Sister Davis. She died as she lived – trusting in Jesus. She leaves a son and a daughter, with numerous relatives and friends. Joel Cowgill THE DEATH ROLL Mrs. Nancy Davis, relict of George Davis, whose death occurred about six years ago, died at 4:50 o’clock yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. B. Lank, in West Lafayette, after much suffering with erysipelas. She was 71 years, 11 months and 20 days old, and was born in Ross County, Ohio. At an early age she moved to Warren county this state, near the town of Green Hill, twelve miles south west of this city. She was the mother of two children, the daughter at whose house she died, and son Tom M. Davis, the well known engineer of the court house heating boilers. For over 40 years she has been a devoted member of the United Brethren Church and lived a beautiful Christian life, full of piety, charity and consistency. About three years ago she removed with her daughter from Green Hill to West Lafayette, and although old and infirm, her presence in the home added to its happiness, and her vacant chair will bring back to memory one who was ever loved! and revered. To-morrow morning the remains will be taken overland to Green Hill, where the funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock from the U.B. church, Rev. Joel Cowgill conducting the services. The burial will be in the Davis graveyard, where all the relatives have been interred.
