He had been afflicted with heart trouble for sometime, but the immediate cause of his death was a stroke of paralysis, which prostrated him on last Saturday. Mr. Westlake was born at Stockwell on August 6, 1852, and was a harness-maker by trade. He conducted a shop in Stockwell for some time and lived in this city for a number of years. He leaves a widow and nine children and also one brother, James Westlake, of Crane, and three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Watkins and Mrs. Sarah Ostler, of this city, and Mrs. Eva Johnson, of Sheridan. Mr. Westlake was a man of excellent character, a good citizen and the announcement of his death will cause much regret in Lafayette and Stockwell, where he had many friends.
