Gates of Shelby township, died Saturday morning at the home of J. L. Mitchell. Miss Gates was 70 years of age, highly respected and her death is sincerely regretted. The funeral occurred on Sunday, January 12. (Minerva Gates was the daughter of Henry Gates and Eleanor Rock. She was born October 7, 1825, in Springfield, Clark Co., OH.)
