I am trying to locate birth and marriage records that are not in the online indexes I've checked. Wonder if anyone can help or give me some pointers as to what I could do. Birth record or index of Mary E. Carr born February 17, 1890 in Indiana. Marriage of James A. Carr and Margaret Wenger about 1889 in Indiana. I have found James with Patrick Henry in 1891 in the Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co. directory index on Ancestry, just today: James A. Carr clerk southeast corner State and Ellsworth 317 South, W. Lafayette IN 1891 P. H. Carr groceries southeast corner State and Ellsworth 317 South, W. Lafayette IN 1891 Lillis M. Moore seamstress 317 South, W. Lafayette IN 1891 P.H. is Patrick Henry, James A's stepfather. Julia Ann Moore is James mother and Patrick's wife, so Lillis is likely related to her. I already have the index for Patrick and Julia's marriage and also John A. and Julia's marriage and am waiting on the records to come. Hoping that since James is in Tippecanoe in 1891 that Mary may have been born there and Margaret (Maggie) and James married there. Thanks, Renee O'Neal

Thanks so much for helping! No, James was born in 1870 and was with his mother and step father in Pulaski County in 1880. The index shows his stepfather as R.H. Carr, but he is really Patrick Henry Carr. His mother is Julia Ann Moore. She was first married to John A. Carr, which is James' father. I am waiting on copies of both marriage records from Tippecanoe Co. to see if John and Patrick are brothers. Next will be to find out what happened to John! I have James and Maggie (Wenger) located in 1880, then again in 1910 and 1920 in Olympia, WA. They may have died between 1920 and 1930. I am trying to find their marriage record and Mary's birth record and also locate them on the 1900 census. I believe they were still in Indiana then. They were married 20 years in 1910 according to the 1910 census. Unless Maggie was pregnant before they were married, they would have been married in early 1889. Mary's ancestors were Mennonites from PA. and I believe James was a minister when they married, so although possible, probably not likely that they married after Maggie was pregnant. I'm betting on an early 1889 marriage for them. A bit more history, and I hope I'm not giving you too much information. James was in Pulaski County in 1880 and Maggie was in Fulton Co. James' parents and his mother and stepfather were married in Tippecanoe Co., which is where I believe her mother's family was. She is Julia Ann Moore and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Patrick Henry Carr and Julia Ann (Moore) Carr moved to Monon Township, White County in March 1863 (I think that should be 1883) according to the History of White and Pulaski counties. Hope that I did not overwhelm you with info. Sometimes I give too much, but when someone is helping me, I like to be sure they have as much information as possible, because being more knowledgable than me about it than I am, they can probably help better if they know what I know!
