Leah and her husband, William Lyman Jones, were first cousins. William was the son of Nimrod Jones and Sarah Jane Campbell. MRS. LEAH JONES EXPIRES AT HOME Mrs. Leah Jones, mother of Nimrod Jones, died Tuesday morning at 6:30 o’clock at the family home, 1427 Kossuth street. Death resulted from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Jones was born June 12, 1848, in this county. She was the widow of William L. Jones, a member of the Lafayette police force in the latter ‘70’s and early ‘80’s. She was a lifelong member of the Congress Street Methodist church. Surviving are one son, Nimrod Jones, of this city; one brother, Carlisle Wait; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Leslie, of 1427 Kossuth Street, and Mrs. John Chance, of 536 South Third street, all of this city, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was an earnest church worker and a woman known for her Christian character. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Congress Street M.E. Church, in charge of Rev. C.L.
