This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Corbin, Van Voltenburgh / Van Valkenburg Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hi.2ADI/2636.1 Message Board Post: The Corbin family was in Lafayette IN as early as 1825 when Luther C Corbin patented land.He died before May1833. A listing of his heirs doesn't show a male heir! His widow Mary had remarried to Edward Cullom by the summer of 1833. Heirs included Mary, three married daughters and spouses, Lucinda Corbin (single dau?), and John Mitchell (relation unknown). Unless Luther had a son born after his death or a brother in the area, there would be no Corbin surname. Daughters' spouses: Moore, Baker, Murray. Sorry this doesn't help much. You are kind to take this interest in this fine man who gave his life for his cause. Thank you! (Corbin, KY, site of orig Col Sanders chicken)
