I have been looking through church microfilm records at the parish that our STEVENS descendants attended while in Lafayette, but I have yet to find one branch of that family in those records. I'm thinking of sending for marriage certificates for two couples, to see what church affiliation, if any, might be recorded, as well as to glean any other info. But before kissing the $$ goodbye, does anyone know what info would be on marriage certs in the 1920s? It won't be worth it to me, if it only provides the info I already know from the marriage records indexes. The two couples I am working on right now are: Harriette STEVENS and Delmar BELLINGER, m Oct 25, 1922 (want to see info in church records to see if they had any children, as none are showing on his obit in 1970, and I can't find an obit for her) Lulu M. STEVENS and Jesse A. WOOD, m Feb 10, 1918. If anyone knows the items included in the info fields on the marriage app or cert for that time period in general, I'd appreciate the advice. Jacqi

So far, I haven't been able to find Edna and Henry on the 1900 and 1910 census and I haven't looked for them on the 1920. So I think I will look for George on the 1900 census maybe they are living with him. Again thank you for your time and interest. Ruth Gaboury

Good Evening, I am taking a wild shot in the dark here and hope that I can hit some luck. I do not know what county in OH this Joseph HARDESTY was born in, in fact I know very little about this gentleman except I found him living in Davis County, IA and that is where he died ca 1851. I believe he had a daughter Elizabeth that married a Joseph FOUNTAIN in Davis Co., IA as he was the administrator of the estate of Mary HARDESTY that was the wife of Joseph HARDESTY. She may have been the 2nd wife but I am not certain of this. There is a possibility that this family lived in IN prior to finally settling in Davis Co., IA Below please find the information that was on the 1850 census for Davis Co., IA. Recently, I've been going through the microfilmed records from St. Ann's in Lafayette. Since the copies I've made of our family records include some others, I thought it might help to archive them on the list, just in case anyone else is researching these lines. Of course, being that the records are handwritten--and in Latin, of which I know nada--you must take these entries with a large grain of salt...or whatever. Rather than insert question marks all over the place for unsure entries, remember these are all approximations to the best of my ability! Hope this helps. Obviously, the STEVENS entry is ours, but I'm not related to the others. Since the list is long, I'll break it up into segments and post the rest later. William T. Surnames: Koonse, Kountz, Quivey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hi.2ADI/2592.1.1 Message Board Post: Karen, Oh, thank you so much for the information you sent (IN Marriage Application and 1930 Census). It was very helpful to me. I am amazed how much info I am able to gather in a short time and with only the snippet of info from that obit in the Nebraska newspaper. I really think it was placed there for my benefit, or I would NEVER have found any of the siblings of Sarah and Naomi Koonse (or Kountz). I see that Lafayette is directly north of Owen County, Indiana, where Naomi lived for a time in the 1860s. I wonder if there was train service there. That might explain the siblings living nearby but not in the same town/township. It is my theory that the parents of Sarah and Naomi left Columbiana County, Ohio with several of the children and went to Owen County, Indiana. There was a large migration from Holmes, Coshocton and Tuscarawas counties in Ohio, and Columbiana was very nearby. If Naomi was possibly married in Coshocton county (I don't know for sure yet), then that might help to explain why SHE went to Owen County. Sarah had married and moved to St. Louis, MO by the mid-1850s. I don't know anything about any of the other siblings. But, now, this J.P. shows up in Lafayette... hmmm. My other theory about the parents is that they both passed away and several of the children moved west because nothing was holding them back. The only time I can find the family together is the 1850 Columbiana county, Ohio census. If there is anyone on the list who would look for the full obituary of Dr. J.P. Koonse, who died 17 April 1906 in Lafayette, IN, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. If not, that's fine, I'll try other resources. I have been distracted from this a bit this week, and haven't exhausted all resources yet. Thanks again, Karen. I really appreciate your time and effort. Laura
