Rebecca Oglesbay was the daughter of Job Connaroe. She is part of my family, 3rd cousin 4 times removed. She had a sister Eliza (Elizabeth) who could be the mother of John. An Elizabeth Beck is shown in the 1850 census for Lauramie with her children and no husband. in 1840 a John Beck is shown who would be right age with 1 son under 5, 2 sons 10-15, 1 female under 5 and 1 female 30-40. I have no information on Eliza in my file other than a birthdate of about 1805. I do know there are no Becks in the Connaroe cemetery, however there are others that are connected. Unfortunately some of the cemeteries in that area have been destroyed.

Beck was orphaned early and taken in by the James Oglebay/Oglesbay family. He also was a shoe maker as was James. John A's wife:Sarah Jane Oglesbay was the daughter of James Oglebay and Rebecca Conarroe. We have searched for years for the burial spot of John A.'s parents, we know it had to be in Tippecanoe County. We are making a trip back there in about two weeks to try to solve this mystery. Any clues would be so helpful.

Antrims migrated from NJ to Tippecanoe Co., IN. and were connected to the Connaroe family. Also connected to the Connaroe's were the Ashby's, Roudebush's, Larkins and Oglesbay's. All were in the Tippecanoe Co. area. James and Hannah had a son John Antrim Beck b. 1808 in New Jersey as well as Joseph b.1810 NJ, Thomas b. 1812 NJ, William Clayton b. 1815 NJ and James b. 1818 NJ. I do not know if any of these moved to Tippecanoe Co. but do know that many Antrim's did.

Surnames: Marcy Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hi.2ADI/2672 Message Board Post: Found this amazing writeup while looking for other things yesterday. My what a guy! ------------------------- Funeral of William L. Marcy The Lafayette Daily Courier ,Saturday, July 11, 1857 p2-c3 The funereal obsequies of the lamented at Albany, on Wednesday is described as the most impressing civic and military pageant ever witnessed in that city. The principal buildings were hung with the habiliments of mourning. The Capitol, where the funeral services took place, was decked with the insignia of grief. Directly in front of the Speaker’s stand was the bier upon which the coffin strewn with white flowers, rested: the constitution of the country being placed upon the breast of the illustrations deceased. The procession to the cemetery was preceded by two platoons of uniformed police. Next came the military, nineteen companies, under command of Maj. General Wool, in advance of the hearse, which was drawn by four white horses. The coffin was of fine rosewood. Attached to it was a silver plate with the following inscription: WILLIAM L. MARCY, DIED JULY 4, 1857 Aged 75 years, 5 months and 22 days Following this came the mourners and pall-bearers in carriages. These were followed by carriages containing ex-Presidents Van Buren and Pierce, Gov. King, ex-Governor Hunt, Fish, Seward and Bouck; Hon. Preston King, Hon. N.P. Banks, Senator Beekman and other distinguished persons. These were followed by nine Fireman companies. After these came two companies of Military, the Order of Free Masons, the Order of Odd Fellows, and the civic societies with a large number of citizens on foot. The procession took one hour in passing a given point. There were twenty-five bands of music in it. The day was fine, and everything passed off well.
