    1. [INTIPPEC] St. Elizabeth Hospital demolition
    2. Lena Carlson
    3. All of the locals on here will already know about this, but I thought it would be good to let some of our out-of-townies know what's going on in Lafayette right now. Greater Lafayette Health Services has asked the city for permission to demolish the 1897 wing of St. Elizabeth Hospital, as well as the Sisters of St. Francis building across the street that formerly housed the School of Nursing. These are two of the oldest hospital buildings left standing in the city of Lafayette. For them to tear down these buildings would be a travesty and I think we all need to let them know what we think of their proposal. If you disagree with the destruction of these beautiful buildings (which by the way are both currently being used by the hospital and therefore would have to eventually be replaced at the expense of the patients) please take the time to let the people at the hospital know what you think. They can be reached by e-mail or phone at: [email protected] or 1-800-371-6011 (this is a general information line for the hospital) Help fight the destruction of our community's history! Thanks, Lena __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Send Flowers for Valentine's Day http://shopping.yahoo.com

    1. [INTIPPEC] I'M EXCITED!!
    2. Adina Watkins Dyer
    3. Good morning everyone, I am very excited to announce that I have just finished uploading an index to the Lafayette Journal and Courier newspaper. This is an index of marriages, deaths, and other items of interest and importance and covers 50 years: 1902-1952. This index contains THOUSANDS of names and is a very valuable tool for the Tippecanoe County researcher. This index was compiled some years ago by Joan Rodenberger and she has graciously given me permission to publish it on the Tippecanoe County GenWeb site. I want to thank Joan for her contribution - it is tremendous and will of great value to Tippecanoe County researchers for many years. I also want to let you all know that Pretty Prairie Cemetery, which was removed a few months ago, has been transcribed from the original records by Cheryl Sterrett-Compliment. These burials have been added to Find-A-Grave and at the present time consist of over 650 burials, with more to be added in the next few days. Thank you, Cheryl, for all your hard work and dedication to helping Tippecanoe County researchers find their ancestors! Other additions that were made tonight were a few family photos: Daniel Buck family and residence (2 photos) Robert Sheetz William H. Hershey family and residence (4 photos) Hiram C. Smith Sumner and Clara McKinley Sterrett Unknown Civil War Soldier There more family photos to add, so if you have some you'd like to contribute, just let me know. Please send them in .jpg format. I've gotten behind in some things since working on the newspaper index, but now that it's done I hope to get caught up in the next few days. Happy searching! Adina

I don't remember Lafayette as being segregated because Jefferson High School was not. I am sure someone on the list will correct me if I am incorrect again. Betty
