Seeking information on Elizabeth Jane (Conner) Nicewander. Elizabeth or "Lizzy" as she was known died in Lafayette on April 18, 1945. She moved to the Crawfordsville area about 1874 and lived there until 1904 when she moved to Lafayette. She was born in Rockbridge Co., Va. in 1853 and was first married to a Mr. Hicks. (Full name not known). On the 1910 census she is listed as a widow. Her son William Hicks was living with her. Lizzy was second married to Jacob Nicewander in Lafayette on December 31, 1923. It seems that Mr. Jeptha Lame is at the present a guest of the State of Missouri and is being entertained at Jefferson City. The State is somewhat particular in caring for Mr. Lame and furnishes him with an elegant wardrobe, a predominating and leading feature of the clothes being pronounced wide stripes of alternating black and white. Jeptha was defendant in a murder suit out in Missouri and the State got the best of him by seven years majority. Mr. Reynolds wedded the fair Jennie while he was an inmate of the Danville, Illinois, jail. The marriage save Reynolds from a term at Joliet as he was under indictment for living in adultery with the aforesaid Jennie. The novel feature of one woman figuring in two different divorce suits, in which one man is the plaintiff and the other man defendant will be likely to receive the attention of the court in another shape than in the divorce mill. It is an outrageous scandal on justice and an exhibition of total depravity that ought to meet with immediate and severe punishment.

He died in Alvado, Colorado on 16 Sept. 1925. He was married to Frances Martha Fouts bfr 1863. Their children were Suan b 1 Jul 1863, Tippicanoe, In. Sarah Jane b 14 April 1868 Peoria Co. Ill. Ike b ?, Will b ?. Davids second wife was Mary. Susan Ulrey did not list a mothers name when she married Thomas Poyner in Red Cloud, Webster, Neberaska on 15 March 1883. I have no info on whom Davids family may have been. Susie was my Great Grandmother, and she did not get along with her stepmother so my mother only met David once in Colorado. Dick Moe
