    3. I think Battle Ground is under the care of a Cemetery Association. You can try to contact Mr. Bob Gross. 765-567-2371. Mary Wilson wrote a book on Battle Ground Cemetery a few years ago. Believe she worked through what records they still had and also updated the newer burials. I don't remember if she had plot numbers or not. But I'm sure she created some kind of map to use. This book is at the research library and may be at the public library too. Mr.David Cheesman published many cemetery books on the southern part of our county. He often put a plat map in his books as well as art drawings of the stones and obituaries too. They are wonderful books. Many of our old cemeteries have no records. Stories I've heard state they were burned or thrown away. This is one of the things I am working on when we visit the old pioneer cemeteries. So check with the people at the research library when go visit for plat maps. 1. [INTIPPEC] Re: Dayton items
    2. Susan Y. Clawson
    3. I'm glad you are enjoying the Dayton (Indiana) items I am posting. I am looking for information on the graduating classes of Dayton schools, especially high school graduations, from the turn of the century. I have the book the alumni association put out, but I know that the names for these years are just those turned in when they started the alumni association about 1960. They aren't drawn from any official records. I was hoping the classes would be listed in the papers. I am finding that it is hard to separate common school or 8th grade graduations from high school graduations. Does any one know more about the high school examination at the turn of the century? Dayton only added high school classes slowly, first two years, then three years, and finally four years. Was it possible to do personal study and take this examination, even if the local school didn't offer the classes? Or did you have to commute to a school that offered the classes? I know that after the interurban was put in, students did commute in to Lafayette to school.
