Hello List I'm looking for the family of DAVID ELMORE that came to Randolph Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN by the 1830 Cenus. He bought 40 Acres in the 22-N Twp. which I would presume is Randolph Twp. at the Crawfordsville Federal Land Patent Office on 30 Mar 1837. >From what I have read he is the son of MATHIAS ELMORE and ELIZABETH APPLETON of SC. I'm interested the desendents of DAVID and his wife PHEBE PUGH. I have a MARGARET (MARY) ELMORE born 1836-38 in IN that is first mentioned in the 1850 Tippecanoe Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN Census in the family of JAMES E. BENAMS (sp) (not sure about last 3 letters) age 33 b. OH and his wife MARY age 30 b. KY with 3 small children age 9/12-8. MARGARET ELMORE married JACOB SWATTS 9 Apr 1857 Carroll Co., IN and is buried in the Pittsburgh, IN Cemetery both dieing 11 Mar 1876. I believe MARGARET ELMORE is either a daughter or grand daughter to DAVID ELMORE. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH INFORMATION ON THIS FAMIY? Thanks Joe Evans

Hi folks, For those of you who might be interested in writing the Indiana State Archives to obtain photocopies of applications for residency at the State Soldiers Home, I have scanned and uploaded the application of a member of my Watkins family, Joseph Daniel Watkins. Joseph was born in Delaware and served from there, but came to Battle Ground sometime between 1870 and 1880. There are two pages to his application: http://www.rootsweb.com/~intippec/JosDWatkins.JPG http://www.rootsweb.com/~intippec/JosDWatkins2.JPG Both links can be found on the Tippecanoe County INGenWeb main page. Adina Yesterday's gone, tomorrow may never come, but we have this moment today.

Hi, I am new to this list, but could really use some help. I found Jabez Osman in the 1850 Tippecanoe, Indiana census as a laborer. Showed he was born in Indiana. He married Ellen Price in 1851 and they moved to LaPorte County. Would appreciate very much any help in finding out where Jabez/Jabus was born and his parents names. Thanks, Judy [email protected]

I taked to one farmer that thougth there were at least 12 stones at one time, a note states maybe 30 folks were buried there. Our restoration group fixed the two stones that are there last year. This area was a dump for many years but it has been cleaned up nicely by the new owner. There are no other name recorded that I know about. This site also had a church at one time. Like many sites this is long gone. Our only hope of finding new names are through family members like yourself or through old church records that have been saved and made available. You might try the LDS catalog listing. And let us know if you find anything. One thing is for sure, many folks didn't have stones. They often left a field stone [rocks] as a maker for their families. These stones usualy get moved to the edges in graveyards nowdays. People don't know any better. Some churches were recorded in our early history. http://www.rootsweb.com/~intippec/TippChurch.html L.A.
Would anyone on the list be able to tell me how I might obtain some information on someone who in 1920 was living in the St. Anthonys Home (Old Peoples Home as it stated on Census)!! Thanks Leslie

Surnames: Goldsberry Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hi.2ADI/1880.1 Message Board Post: Many cemeteries are known by other names. In the book published by the Area Plan Commission (2001) it lists this cemetey as Wyandotte and AKA also-known-as, Goldsberry. Most of the time it was because a family was the early land owner of the area the cemtery was located. Sometime APC found a deed that listed with the cemetery. This one has references listed, located in Plat book 3, page 26-27, and book 2 page 34 and D 130 p. 188. Now having typed all of that, I think this last part would be from the early deed books. APC deed research was done on all the cemeteries they could find in 1988. Of course there is always families with documents too. Let us know if you have any. If you know where your family is buried, you might add them to Find-A-Grave site. This will bring the link back to you for others to find. You must register to add names. Email and password. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=1713312&CScnty=870&CSsr=121& Also don't forget to use the search box at the top of the message boards or off the Tippecanoe Co.
