Hi Bob I believe we met at the reunion a few years ago. I came with Bob and Margie Kelley and descend from Mary Scott and Elijah Land. I would love to have a copy of your history and thank you for sharing. Have a great day and God bless. I am not connected to the Dufours. I did a similar "census" of Swiss families, but only to document which surnames were associated with the Swiss settlement and their points of origin. There's a lot more than most people think. I do not descend from any of these families. Are you aware of the genealogy "The Dufour Saga" and Perret Dufours "History of the Swiss Settlement", which is a compiled group of articles. he wrote for the the Reveille (Vevay) in the 1800s . They are old enough they may be available online since they should be in public domain The Dufour history was available from the Switzerland County Historical Society and I would assume it might still be Thanks Bob. -----Original Message----- From: sjlstar via INSWITZE <inswitze@rootsweb.com> To: inswitze <inswitze@rootsweb.com> Cc: sjlstar <sjlstar@aol.com> Sent: Mon, May 7, 2018 9:29 am Subject: [INSWITZE] Re: Scottish settlement history Hi Bob,My ancestors came from Switzerland, Indiana. Bob - WELL DONE! I was up very late last night and read the whole book. I knew it would be well researched but you have gone beyond that. WOW! I know how much research it takes to find just one accurate date. I had not known the history of those churches. You should have included one of those "old time harsh sermons." When it came to preaching they got your attention. I am always interested in the neighbors and not just our family too. Everyone is connected in some way. Would have loved to have toured Scotland with you [lovely photos] as you evidently did your homework before you went. I always wonder why a person settled in a particular place and it is usually because a relative or friend was there. Yet, you have tracked all of these Scots from different areas arriving in the same location. What brave people they were. I still have not found John or Walter Scott's ship to the :U.S. May never find it. I remain about 60 percent hopeful that our William was son of Adam Scott. When Adam had a son William born in 1758, he was called an innkeeper. On one the baptism records of William and Christian's children, William is called an inn dweller. I could use some help from somebody who knows Scottish practices of the period to see what that might mean but it does have a promising sound I find no evidence of William or Christian's married or of Christian's parentage. I had hoped the marriage of a William Scott and Christian Stevenson in the right place and time would turn out to be a mistrascription. But I have no seen the original and it's clearly Stevenson. There's a very good chance Christian's family could have been on the English side of the border since Yetholm is so close to the line a nd these families were back and forth. -----Original Message----- From: Eloine <eloinec@comcast.net> To: bobwscott--- via INSWITZE <inswitze@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tue, May 8, 2018 9:28 am Subject: [INSWITZE] Re: Scottish settlement history Bob - WELL DONE!
