I am new to this list. I'm researching an ancestor, Oscar Leftridge, an African American who lived in Switzerland County from about 1865 until his death in 1888. He was a soldier in the United States Colored Troops,(KY regiment) during the Civil War. I have his military records from the Naional Archives. I would like very much to locate his grave in order to have a marker designating his service to the Union, if there is not already one there. I'm hoping someone on this list may be able to tell me the named of cemeteries where blacks may have been buried in the 1880s, in Switzerland or Ohio County near Rising Sun. Additional information I have on Oscar is that he was working for a farmer by the name of Indianus Humphrey in Patriot the time the 1870 census was taken. Perhaps there are descendants of this family still in the area that may have kept records about the farm that would mention Oscar? By 1880, he was married and continued to live near Patriot. Thanks for any assistance. ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
