    2. There has never been an index that I am aware of. The only index? has been by year. You have to go through the pages one by one. The only help I can give is that you can begin to learn which pages have local news and which don't. This remains fairly constant except when the number of pages in the average issue increase and that it's amattern of picking up a new pattern. So in a four-page issue, you might find a little news on page 1, none on 2 and 3, and most of the local items on 4. In many cases, the national news will consume one page and perhaps what we might call magazine-style articles on another and the pattern is generally unvarying, except in special issues. I've spent a lot of time going page by page, year by year. So I sympathize. The index isn't available. It's kind of hard to go through all those pages with the naked eyeball. Phil Turner Kay Davidson <kdavid2410@comcast.net> wrote: Thank you so very much, Bob! 3. Yes, it's very tedious but can result in BIG rewards, in particular reports of deaths in the years prior to deaths being recorded by the county. Reading the articles about the major floods was most interesting - found reports of ancestors houses being swept away. ----- Original Message ----- From: <bobwscott@aol.com> To: <inswitze@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 28, 2007 10:09 PM Subject: Re: [INSWITZE] Early Switzerland Co. newspapers - digitized images > > There has never been an index that I am aware of. > > The only index? has been by year.
