Due to church and state (Canada), the last name was changed. I know that, in Poland, the spelling of a name can indicate the town or area where they originated. My grandfather, Janni, died in northern Alberta some 85 years ago, and his wife Domineca died 15 years later. My grandfather apparently came to this country with two other brothers. The only information I have about them is that one died in an avalanche in Alaska, and the other was known to have headed toward San Francisco.
