    3. Hi everyone! I realize many of you on this list no longer live in the Michiana area, but just the other day a once long time fixture of local TV passed away. WNDU-TV's former weatherman, Dick Addis, passed away at the age of 74 in Viro Beach, FLA. He was one of those guys who did a little of everything at the station including the weather forecast. I remember the days when he would do weather reports on the US map dry erase boards with his squeaky black markers writing away the weather fronts and high and low pressure zones. And who could forget his corny weather words at the conclusion of his forecasts that he would write with a flourish with his marker. That was the day when the weatherman was called the weatherman and not a meteorologist. :-) He and Bruce Saunders of WSBT were among the first in this area to utilize those early radar images and the often grainy looking black and white satelite images. In fact, if I remember correctly, back in the Blizzard of 1977, he single handedly did the entire newscast one evening because none of the regular newspeople could get in to the station that day. He was quite a character. May he rest in peace. Rick B
