I don't remember if you were the correspondent, but a few months ago someone asked if I was was researching the Kring family. (I was doing research on the families of North Liberty, including BRIGGS and IRVIN). I don't think I had a chance to reply, but your family member, whose life was so tragically cut short by his WW2 heroism, will be be remembered by my family this Memorial Day. He was born in South Bend, on May 11, 1918, the son of Arthur James and Addie Rough Kring. He was in the 8th Army, engaged in the mop-up phase of operations on Luzon. He died on June 20, 1945. He is buried in the Riverview Cemetery.
