In the 15 Jan 1930 federal census for South Bend, St. Joseph, Indiana living at 114 E. Broadway is Jennie Coil a white female who is 71 years old and widowed. She was born in Indiana (about 1849). She is living next door to Zula Blanche Coil Richards (age 33) and Lloyd Richards (age 34). Zula is the daughter of Franklin Coil (1843-1920) and Nancy Jane Diveley Coil (1849-1923). I cannot connect Jennie (unknown surname) Coil with anyone in my family tree. Any and all ideas appreciated. The funeral of Alfred Hall, who died at his home, 1424 Michigan avenue, yesterday will be held from the residence Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. H. B. Hostetter officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in the city cemetery. Mr. Hall was a pioneer resident of South Bend, having lived here for the past 54 years. He was at one time a part owner in the St. Joseph Valley Register buying the interest of Schuyler Colfax in that paper. He was later a part owner of The Tribune Printing company. Mr. Hall was born in Philadelphia, Pa., July 25, 1830. He was a prominent member of the South Bend lodge of Odd Fellows and last winter was one of three members presented with a jewel having been a member of the order for 50 years. She was born in South Bend, Aug. 6, 1924 ( THAT'S WHAT IT SAYS!), but had lived most of her life in Montana, returning here two years ago. She is survived by her father, James Snow, of Montana; three brothers, Harry Snow, at whose home she resided; Clarence and Melville Snow, of Montana, and one sister, Mrs. John Penrod, of Wyoming. The funeral wil be held from the Sprague chapel, Mishawaka, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. A. H. Keck, of Holy Trinity English Lutheran church, South Bend, officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery, Mishawaka." The funeral notes from the Tribune: "The funeral of Miss Gladys Snow, 713 27th street, River Park, was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Sprague chapel in Mishawaka, Rev. A. H. Keck of the Holy Trinity English Lutheran church, this city, officiating. Saturday John was at the Carrie Dvorak-Brennan wedding reception. Was wondering when they will publish a wedding photo in the South Bend Tribune. Will that be in tomorrow's paper? It wasn't in the Sunday paper. Thanks John D in Michigan ------------------- My father retired from the Tribune around 1992, and he said some of the feature sections were printed up a couple weeks in advance.
