That is exactly why I have not put my vast tree and others that I have gathered as a researcher, out there. If a family researcher, member, or interested party needs to contact me personally I will help all I can and share. I am from the old class of family historians that started it all by "snail mail" and did it all for free !!! Even tho I now have come into the electronic age, I still try to keep it free. I to am also a sub. to Anes. com, I need it for my research here at home, as I cant get out all the time. When I see persons researching, on line, and I have information they can use, I send them that info as a FYI. Hi again! This is going to be a long shot, but did anyone happen to attend the genealogy talk at Sumption Prairie Church last night? This was supposed to be on the families that settled Greene Township. My Stichlers used to own a lot of land in Centre and Greene in the early days so I was curious. There's almost 4 generations of my family buried in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Thanks! Rick B

Hi everyone! This discussion is getting a bit off topic for this list, but I can answer your question on the One World Tree upgrade. :-) If you use Worldconnect on the Rootsweb side, the changes on Ancestry won't affect you. Your online family tree will continue to reside as it is including a copy of it will be indexed on Ancestry. This has been done ever since Ancestry bought out Rootsweb about 1999. The software Ancestry was using for family trees is woefully out dated and no longer supported, so thus the need to upgrade to a more modern system. As I recall, the Ancestry side is a paid subscriber service. I could wrong about that as I don't use that side for my online tree. I use the Rootsweb free side. I'm a paid subsriber on Ancestry so I can easily access my information there. Also I would caution all of you on making accusations concerning business practices by Ancestry's parent company, The Generations Network. These do not belong on this or any other Rootsweb list. However, I do appreciate Sharon keeping us informed of a possible web site move. Please continue to keep us informed of this development. Thank you! Rick B List and Board Administrator
Jim, Most of the cc's will be keeping a shell of the web site on rootsweb with a notice of where the new site will be. I have not gotten all the particulars on the new address as it is still being formatted. I know it will take some doing to move all the files, and I will let everyone know when it is completed so that you can change your bookmarks. I really appreciate all of your understanding, at this time. All the cc's feel that this must be done to protect what has been done so far on the web sites, the generosity of so many people to help keep Genealogy free and all the hard work that the cc's have undertaken with their websites, it just does not seem fair that someone can come along and plagiarize the work and turn around and sell it. ****************************************************************************** ************ Sharon Gill Vanden Bossche _Home Page_ (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familygenealogy03/index.htm) _E-mail_ (http://SharonV45@aol.com/) : Visit - _Honoring my Family Veteran's_ (http://www.freewebs.com/sharonv45/index.htm) Hostess at: _St. Joseph County, INGenweb - Genealogy Website_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/) Take a look at our St. Joseph County Web site, it is really great - People have generously contributed, to make researching St. Joseph County, IN a "GREAT" place to visit and research. _St. Joseph County, IN - Mailing list @ Yahoo_ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StJosephCo_Indiana/) Also take a look at the _Wood Lake Scout Reservation's 50th Anniversary_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/scouting/woodlake50.htm) Web Site In a message dated 3/10/2008 2:42:19 P.M. Andrea, Your tree is more than likely a part of Ancestry at this time. They have bought out Rootsweb and they are taking what they want and using on their paid section. I do belong to Ancestry because of the things that I can find for my own research. But the fact that they are plagiarizing is what is so upsetting. The least that they could do is ask a person for permission. Yes, your tree is still more than likely on rootsweb but it will also be included in Ancestry at some point if not already there. _St. Joseph County, IN - Mailing list @ Yahoo_ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StJosephCo_Indiana/) Also take a look at the _Wood Lake Scout Reservation's 50th Anniversary_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/scouting/woodlake50.htm) Web Site In a message dated 3/10/2008 3:35:41 P.M. Hello All, Just wanted to keep you updated on the moving of the web site. One of the County Coordinators has found a server that is rather cheap and is only costing the other Coordinators a small fee at this time, with the hopes of taking donations and apply for a not for profit status. As soon as she has things up and going and I can get into the server and get things situated their I will be letting you all know what the new location is. It is going to be a little undertaking getting all of this moved to the new location and getting links adjusted but I think it will be well worth it, knowing that, what so many of you have donated will not be copied and sold to someone else. Hang in there and your favorite county will be back and going strong. All the county coordinators are doing their best to make the genealogy hosting the best it can be for free to all researchers. ****************************************************************************** ************ Sharon Gill Vanden Bossche _Home Page_ (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ familygenealogy03/index.htm) _E-mail_ (http://SharonV45@aol.com/) : Visit - _Honoring my Family Veteran's_ (http://www.freewebs.com/sharonv45/index.htm) Hostess at: _St. Joseph County, INGenweb - Genealogy Website_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/) Take a look at our St. Joseph County Web site, it is really great - People have generously contributed, to make researching St. Joseph County, IN a "GREAT" place to visit and research. _St. Joseph County, IN - Mailing list @ Yahoo_ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StJosephCo_Indiana/) Also take a look at the _Wood Lake Scout Reservation's 50th Anniversary_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/scouting/woodlake50.htm) Web Site **************It's Tax Time!
