As far as I know I never have seen or heard of a Fenn's Chapel Cemetery. Maybe someone has it confused with Toner's Chapel Cem. just north of West SR 44 in Hendricks Twp. According to early obits and news stories, the citizens of Fenn's were buried at Miller Cem. to the west in Hendricks Twp., Lewis Creek Cem. or Winchester Cem. to the east on SR 9, or Parrish Cem. just to the south of Fenns in Shelby Twp. Maybe the Parrish Cemetery was also known as the Jackson or Fenn's Cem. too since people with those names all lived in the area. The Jacksons and Parrishes were related by the marriages of Ezekiel T. Jackson and Eliza T. Parrish in 1887 and of Charles Parrish and Margaret A. Jackson eight months later. Could this Parrish Cemetery have other names that I'm not aware of? Other than a few small plots like the Baumgartner Cem., I know I would have walked through Fenn's within the last 35 years if there were one. Right now, I can't lay my hands on the map that Kermit Money he! lped draw up. He had all the cemeteries in Shelby County identified but the newest plot which workers "recently" unearthed while digging near Shelbyville's water source in Hendrick's Twp. Has anyone ever put that info on-line? Yesterday afternoon, I drove south on Columbus Road 75 W through Fenns, past Parrish Cem. and Spurling Cem., turned West on 850 S into Lewis Creek (Village) past Patterson Cem. past where Coffman Cem. once was, past Mt. Auburn Cem. on 900 S and south on the Marietta Pike to St. George's Cem. on SR 252 which has a large new addition going up. I can think of no other drive that puts me in a Shelby Co. researching mood! I wish someone could raise money to place signs at each cemetery to identify them. A good example is the wooden sign placed by our Nail/Wray Association at the Old Center Union Church in Brandywine Twp.about 3 or 4 years ago. Even a green street sign at the edge of the road would be better than no identification at all. Linda Read Chesser lchesser4@insightbb.com
