Here in Oklahoma, if you have the legal description of the land, you can go to the County Courhouse and look at a book that will have a listing of every document that was ever filed that pertained to that piece of land. Is there anywhere like that for Shelby Co? I have a land record showing that my John Harrell purchased 40 acres described as being the SW quarter of the SE quarter of Sec 6, Twp 11 N, Range 7 E. He purchased it in 1835. He died in 1837 and his probate records do not list any property. Is there anywhere I can write that could check that 2 year period to see who he signed the property over to before he died? According to the map I have it appears that is just SW of Lewis Creek Cemetery. I'd appreciate any information you could give me on this. Olive
