    3. A few months ago, the Shelby Co Clerk's Office was doing some routine "housecleaning" and found a book of affidavits in a cabinet (upstairs -- not in the vault). The book runs from July 1876 through Sept 1879. The book lists the names of the bride and groom AND an affiant (someone swearing to the validity of the affidavit). When the bride or groom were under age, a parental permission note was pasted to the page. Barb transcribed all the information! Listing by date (as the affidavits appear in the book): http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/courthouse/marriage_records/marriages_aff_76.79.htm Alpha listing, both by groom's name and then by bride's name: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/courthouse/marriage_records/marriages_aff_76.79.htm Transcription of all consent notes/letters AND a sample of the form used for each affidavit: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/courthouse/marriage_records/marriages_aff_76.79_consents.htm
