    3. The METHODIST connection. Sylvester Thomas and Kalistia Kitchell were married Feb. 2, 1846 by Rev. Samuel Morrison. More from the Florence Rock booklet May, 1946. The Baptist church in Hanover transferred to the Christian Church and continued holding their services at Hanover until 1880, when they erected their present building in Morristown. This building was remodeled and enlarged a few years ago. Rev. Thomas Shipp of the Methodist Protestant Church was an outstanding minister of his day. He moved here in 1850. A Methodist Protestant class has been organized at the home of Jasper Hewitt, north of Hanover, in 1832 or 33 by Samuel Morrison. Due to the efforts of Rev. Shipp, a building was erected on Main Street in Morristown. It was the first church in the town. The original town of Morristown was laid out in 1828 by Col. Rezin Davis and Rev. Samuel Morrison. ...
