    3. I descend from Sylvester Thomas 1827-1909 and Calistia Kitchel 1846-1907 through Milretta Thomas and Alvin Charles Myer. My grandmother Myer kept a scrap book with many newspaper clippings regarding the families as well as handwritten notes in the family bible. The following is an obit of Margaret Thomas I found. I am attempting to piece this information together. Does anyone have the birthdates/deaths/marriages for John, James, William or the daughters? SHELBY DEMOCRAT Thursday, February 13, 1919 ---------- (Tuesday's Daily) DIED ON SAME FARM WHERE SHE WAS BORN Mrs. Margaret Thomas Passed Away Monday Life-Long Resident Of County ---------- Aliments incident to her advanced age caused the death of Mrs. Margaret Thomas, at her home in Marion township Monday morning at 9 o'clock, following a long illness which had been very severe during the last two weeks. Her death occurred on the farm where she was born and in the vicinity where she had spent all the years of her life. She was seventy-seven years, one month and sixteen days of age. Mrs. Thomas was born in Marion township on the old Foreman home place, December 25, 1841, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Foreman. She attended the school in that vicinity, and was united in marriage, when young, to Lafayette Thomas, who was a well known young agriculturist of that community, they took up their residence on a farm in the near vicinity. Nine children were born to the union, three of whom preceded their mother in death. Mr. Thomas passed away thirty-five years ago and since then Mrs. Thomas resided on the farm where she was born. The children surviving are four sons, who are John, of Marion township; Henry and Edward, of Henry county, and Sylvester, of New Castle, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bassett and Mrs. David [Electa E.] Kepley, both of Marion township. Mrs. Thomas could include the entire community in her list of friends and there is genuine sorrow at the loss occasioned by her death. Funeral services will be held at the late home Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. James L. Brown officiating. Carmony Bros., undertakers, will have charge of the burial in the Liberty cemetery. --- Virginia Flesher <vflesher@onemain.com> wrote: > I believe this would be the Lafayette, b 1835, who > married Margaret J > FOREMAN in Shelby Co 3 Jan 1856.
