Hello Wanda, and all ... Wanda writes: > I am looking for William Smith born 1845 Union Township Shelby County > Indiana. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks Wanda The search for William Smith in Union Tnp, Shelby Co. (or anywhere else) is a challenge. I sympathize because I also have two William Smiths in other states, and they are both quite elusive in spite of family records that prove they did, in fact, exist. Your Wm. Smith would have been 5 years old at the 1850 census in Shelby County. What was the clue that led you to believe he was, indeed, b. in Union Township? Did you ever find him in the 1850 census? Wanda, I know you've done a lot of research for many years, not only on the Smith family. I see one of your recent Smith queries as follows: "I would love to know if you have a William Smith in your family bible born about 1855 or before in VA in your family bible. My William Smith died in Indiana 1877 or 1878. My William Smith died before his son Jacob Oliver was born March of 1878. Wanda " so ..... in light of your most recent query, does this mean that you found evidence that your Wm. Smith was *not* born in VA "about 1855 or before" but in Indiana in 1845?? And that he was the father of Jacob Oliver Smith b. March 1878? Please let us know what you know for sure about this particular Smith family. Then maybe we'll have a better fix on which township or county to focus on. Jeanne Surber
