I have had a Golding researcher contact me recently and has connections to the Golding family who lived in Shelby Co then in Taylor Co IA. She says Roy Derrickson, age 21 in 1900, was found living in one of her Golding family's homes in yet another state. I know one of Solomon's sisters and her family (Albert and Phoebe Foreman Derrickson) also went to Taylor from Shelby. Does anyone know how Roy connects. Is he descended from one of the other Derrickson families in Shelby Co? I had hoped to find him in the 1920 census, but the free time is up, but I did find this when I searched. My great uncle Roy Waughtel (Edward Elroy Waughtel) married an Alice Derrickson in Wayne County, Indiana in July 1905 and I so far have not been able to tie this Derrickson family in anywhere else either. I believe Alice died in childbirth or possibly related to childbirth complications as in 1906 my great uncle was in Ohio and married to someone else. I have found a Homer Waughtel in a school (?) as a small child and am assuming that my great uncle either was unable to care for the child or for other unknown reasons he was put in this school/home?? My great uncle had been in a boys reformatory prior to this so possibly they didn't feel he would be a fit parent and the child taken from him and put into this school/home? Does anyone have a like/similar incident in their Derrickson family in Indiana?
