I've tried everything possible, all combinations, even went page by page through all of Hanover Twp in Shelby and Posey Twp in Rush, even part of Center Twp, and it's just not there. Something kind of sad I thought about, my dad had a sister born in September of 1920. Had the family been in the census she still wouldn't have been listed. She died in 1925, long before the 1930 census. So, she never was even counted. I'll bet there are lots of instances like this. Jill

Jill, In Union Township of Rush County, there is a Harvey Arnold listed with wife Grace, no son listed tho. This Harvey was born in Arkansas. Other hints about the 1920 census... the index is only a Head of Household index. If your grandfather was livinfg in the household of a family member, he would not have been put in the index. The exceptions to this are people living in households of non-relatives, they were included in the index. I would suggest looking for the parents of both William and Grace to see if they were living with them. Also, look at the siblings and grandparents. Hope this helps you.
