After 40 years of trying to PROVE my descent from John and Mary (Wasson) Baker of Campbell County, Kentucky, it has been proven by DNA Tests. I made contact with a descendant of son, Samuel. That branch never left the area and can easily prove their descent from John and Mary. He took the Test and we are a perfect match. This proves (99.9 % accuracy) that we have a common Baker ancestor. This means that John Jr. was a son of John and that my William was a son of John Jr. There are no other possible fathers in the line for them. One again, I would like to urge all Bakers from every line to take the DNA Test. Check it out here: http://www.bakerdna.net/ Jim . . Free Searchable Genealogy Databases http://www.jrbakerjr.com .
Congratulations, I am glad you are into the DNA project. We have proven our Moss line back to Gilbert Moss, it is very exciting. I hope more people will use this avenue to prove their ancestry. I waited a year for a match with no luck. I'm very grateful to William Kendall (Bill) Baker for taking the test for me. He really had nothing to prove. He grew up just down the road from John and Mary's farm. He knew a lot of the Bakers that I only knew through my research. Now, we are looking for John's Irish ancestors, and hoping someone else will match us. . .
