    1. Re: [INSHELBY] naturalization
    2. You do not say the approximate year that she might have been naturalized. Until 1922 women and minor children automatically became citizens with their husband/father so there would be no record for the woman or child. After 1922 women had to file for their own citizenship. Also in the earlier days, a woman born in this country lost her citizenship if she married a man who was foreign born. Many states listed their aliens during the period of WW I and you will find many women listed who were born in the U.S. This is because they married a foreign born male and thus lost their citizenship. Most naturalizations are at the county level but they could take place in any court. They could apply at one location and take the final oath at another location. Some, but not many, were done at the federal level. Hope this helps. Good luck in your search. Kathy Ridlen

    1. To Barb Huff
    2. Hi Barb, Lora here. I have dug out all of my "stuff" again. I have run across a bunch of the Naturalization papers that we were typing. It has been so long since I have read this style of writing I am having a wee bit of trouble. Would you be interested in typing more of these? I could mail you the ones that I am having trouble reading. I think that there is about 70 more of them that need typing. I have sent P some of the ones that I have typed so far. You can email me off list with your address if you are interested. Cheers! And Thanks! Lora
