    2. http://www.familytreedna.com/21.html Here is the link to a testing company, on the front page you can search for your surname. You can join your surname group for a discounted price or you can also just take the test yourself without joining a group. Here are some reasons for joining a surname DNA group. It is an exciting new tool for genealogist. The objectives of our project are: · Eliminate or confirm the relationship of individuals or lines to other family lines. · Develop a database that combines DNA results with traditional genealogy research. · Direct research into a compact geographical area and timeframe, we expect to find many nationalities in our study group. · Confirm variant surnames as part of the same family · Strengthen weak paper trails and avoid pursuing false connections · To find new relationships for those who have reached a dead end in their genealogical paper trail thus focusing research towards related families George Young If you have more questions about DNA testing please email me, I am the coordinator for the Young DNA study. oldhiker50@aol.com

    3. If it's for a male named Baker, it's explained here at the top. http://www.bakerdna.net/ You order the test and pay for it (about $100) and they send a kit. You swab the inside of your cheek and put the swab back into the bottle and mail it back. It's that simple. It must be a male named Baker who takes the test because the Y Chromosome is passed down only from father to son. The Yahoo Baker Ancestors list is a list for discussion of Bakers and DNA. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BakerAncestors/ There are sites for many other surnames but the Baker test is the only one I'm familiar with. 1. DNA Tests
    2. James R. Baker, Jr. (jrbakerjr)
    3. After 40 years of trying to PROVE my descent from John and Mary (Wasson) Baker of Campbell County, Kentucky, it has been proven by DNA Tests. I made contact with a descendant of son, Samuel. That branch never left the area and can easily prove their descent from John and Mary. He took the Test and we are a perfect match. This proves (99.9 % accuracy) that we have a common Baker ancestor. This means that John Jr. was a son of John and that my William was a son of John Jr. There are no other possible fathers in the line for them. One again, I would like to urge all Bakers from every line to take the DNA Test. Check it out here: http://www.bakerdna.net/ Jim . . Free Searchable Genealogy Databases http://www.jrbakerjr.com .

    3. Spring finally hit Shelby County. Today was shirt sleeve weather, even for a cold-blooded body like mine. The daffodils are in their glory. I took a vacation last week to paint kids' bedrooms, but I'll try to get caught up soon. Barb has been working on estate records, so I will pass those along as I can. At least two Shelbers have sent me pictures -- hopefully we (well, you!) can identify some of the people. John Ballard is having a wonderful Indian summer in Australia. I hope the rest of you are enjoying a North American spring! P
