    1. Directions to Mt. Auburn Cemetery
    2. Phyllis Miller Fleming
    3. Unless you want a tour of the county, I-74 is not the most efficient way to get to Mt. Auburn. I will give you directions from 74 if you insist. It is very involved. And not too scenic until you get past Shelbyville. The best route is down 65. Get off and head east on 252 (Flat Rock) 2.5 miles will be St George Lutheran Church & Cem. You will notice it coming over a hill. CR 600W Turn left or north and go two miles. This will be 900S and downtown Mt Auburn. The cemetery and church are just off to the right/east of this intersection 600W-900E. I believe this is the most beautiful part of our county. Make sure you look out across the hills when you are at the church. 3. Mariah, I think Don is on the right track. I posted the WEST births on the website. http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/birth_records/births_W_wpa.htm I didn't find Samantha, Walter or Prudence listed in the county burials. Perhaps they are buried in Arlington Cem in Rush Co (close to Gwynneville). I'll check again for Alexander's burial. When my grandmother went to get her birth certificate in order to get a passport (around 1970) she discovered the records had been lost in a fire. She had to fill out an affadavit stating that to the best of her knowledge she was born in 1898 or 99 and the only proof she had that this was even close was her high school graduation date. The state accepted it and issued her a birth certificate. I suppose they might have consulted census records if necessary, but they didn't. Or even baptismal records, but they didn't do that either. If it's good enough for the government........... Jill
