I want to add my greetings and thanks for this wonderful list and website. It keeps me in touch with my Shelby County heritage, I read every post and check the website often. And I agree, that if all counties had such wonderful resources it would be "genealogy heaven" Nora Lee Newkirk Liederbach...born in Shelbyville, but never lived there....

Thanks for the items about the Nugent family. Linda Fuller and I have had correspondence about this family in the past. >http://www.shelbycountyindiana.org/obituaries/obit_nugent.htm I'm interested in the woman I think was Omer's first(?) wife, Harriet "Hattie" Surber. I don't recall what happened to her, but I'd like to know (if anyone knows) as well as more information about her Surber family. I'm "almost sure" her parents were Joseph R. and Harriett (Seward) SURBER who also lived in Shelby County, IN. I think Harriett and her siblings were my dad's second cousins, although I can't prove it yet. Can someone help me with these families? I do have an old letter written in the 1960's to one of my aunts by a person who had interviewed "Oliver" Surber who was the youngest of this Surber family. He was born in 1880.
