Thank you for the information on Elisha C. Fordyce's final resting place. It appears that the family may have made yet another move to Nebraska after the 1880 Federal Census for Missouri. And since the 1890 Federal Census was destroyed by fire, we can only determine that the move took place before Elisha's death in 1892. It appears that their son, William O. Fordyce is also buried at Rosedale Cemetery, Nebraska, in 1893. I would hazard to guess that after these losses, Mary Jane Fordyce must have moved back to Missouri to live closer to her adult children living there. Mary Jane Fordyce is listed as a widow and head of household in the 1900 Federal Census with her then widowed daughter-in-law, Sarah J., and three grandchildren back in York Township, Putnam County, Missouri. Or, also a possibility for thought.., it could be that Mary Jane's husband Elisha and son William took some kind of temporary work in Nebraska (perhaps working on the railroad or a farm there?) and the wives stayed in Missouri on the family farm while they were away, and unfortunately the husbands both died away from home. It would be interesting to find out what happened in that missing decade, wouldn't it? I have one correction for you, however. I believe it was Mary Jane's daughter Ann E. Fordyce that married Jacob Brown in Putnam County, Missouri, on March 29, 1868, and he apparently was a prominent citizen of Wayne County, Iowa, just across the state line (http://www.iagenweb.org/wayne/wayneappan/brown.jacob.htm). You originally wrote that you thought your great grandmother's name was Mary E. Brown, so I just wanted to make sure that this might be a typographical error.
