    3. Nearly Killed By Jam Walk Mr. Russell Hazzard had a hazardous escape from breaking his back bone recently, and did some lively rustling to gain his equilibrium. He was walking along the street opposite Tullis & Prindle's store, and, reaching the cross walk, endeavored to make a start to out-rival Bob Wilson in a race for the depot. His feet slipped from under him and he came down like a thousand boxes of sand and struck on the hardest plank n the walk. He would have sold himself at cost. He arose gradually, by sections, and soon succeeded in sustaining his perpendicular position. Picking up his hat with one hand and helping himself along with the other, he remarked like this: "Jam the Jam walk to jell." And passed on a sadder but slightly injured man. He is able to sit at the table with the aid of a pillow, and if a relapse don't set in he will be able to be about in a few days. When a young lady now asks him to sit down he says "No thank you, haven't got time." - Lewis County Bee. August 15, 1884. 3-20-96 Claquato, Mar. 13-Morton Hazzard returned form Olympia last week.
