Steve & Jeannie Carlisle <[email protected]> report that the Preservation Alliance is setting up a meeting on Wednesday, January 31, 2001, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (lunch provided free by Jeeves & Company) at Jeeves & Company for ANYONE interested in Pigeon Roost cemetery and historical site. <NOTE from Lois: See my webpage at http://www.rootsweb.com/~incccpc/pigeonroostcem.html for more info about this site.> Jeeves and Company is a Scottsburg restaurant; the owners are VERY interested in saving historical buildings and etc. in Scott County). The restaurant is on the courthouse square (west side) in Scottsburg, on South Main street. This is to be a brainstorming session to see what, IF anything, should or could be changed at Pigeon Roost. There will be some attendees from Indy. There has been a lot of vandalism in the past at Pigeon Roost. Master Gardeners have been trying to clean up and make the area prettier. There has been talk about trying to acquire more land so the area will be seen from the highway, hoping to help with vandals. Please tell anyone you would think might be interested in this historical site. Anyone having information about descendants of Pigeon Roost pioneers, please contact them, so they may have the chance to attend. > Jeannie Noe Carlisle > IN Historical Society County Historian for Scott > http://www.genroots.com/in/scottin/ > http://www.genroots.com/in/washingtonin/ > > Steve Carlisle > http://www.genroots.com/in/clarkin/ > http://www.genroots.com/in/jeffersonin/
