I've already contacted the genealogy dept. of the library in Batesville, who kindly provided me with post 1923 microfilm copies of a sibling's papers. But I can't read it. So they referred me to the historical society, because they thought the earlier ones might be on file there. The historical society sent me a boatload of paperwork, copies of ledgers, written court reports, etc...but none are my family members, and they're not the papers themselves. So - I'm wondering if anyone knows where these papers are kept (or did Ripley send them to the state archives? I've just contacted the IN State Library in IN, and the State archives looking for Johnson County - no luck at all...and Johnson County's clerk of courts doesn't even know what I'm talking about!?). Would they be kept with the county clerk in Ripley still? Anybody have any experiences doing this type search in Ripley? I KNOW several other relatives were naturalized there, but can't find a hint of it on paper. Thanks! Brenda Geiger
