My cousin is the expert on the Ruble side of my family and his genealogy report is several hundred pages, when I was growing up around my grandparents it was always assumed the name Ruble came from Russia based on their currency, in actuality the name was Rubelli or somewheres close to that and they migrated from Switzerland to Germany due to religeous persecution and the original spelling altered through time.
