These listings are indeed for the Old Salem Cemetery. I checked the whole listing and that substantiated it for me. Why it is shown as Batesville Township is a mystery to me. This is one of those cemeteries where a lot of the families are related to one another in one way or another. The name of the cemetery on Findagrave should be changed. Thomas and Ruth Hutson are buried there but apparently in unmarked graves. I had the death certificate for Thomas. The reason he is not in the 1900 census is because he died 1 Jan, 1900. He was born 1 Jan, married 1 Jan and died 1 Jan. Also he was in the Civil War. Calvin Huston had a tintype of Thomas in uniform but would not let me copy it. Afraid I would lose it I guess. It appears he was in Sherman's March to the Sea. From what I have been told, his wife Ruth, was a real b---h. That is just the way it was said to me by Calvin and she was his grandmother. Additional info I have for the following children of Thomas and Ruth. Bateman is married in your neck of the woods Suzy. Conner is buried in Old Salem in Ripley County, Indiana.. Sherman is buried in Big Cedar cemetery in northern Franklin County Indiana. He was twice married. George is buried in West Point Cemetery in Liberty, Union County, Indiana. Augusta Hutson Abernathy is buried in West Point Cemetery Liberty, Union County, Indiana. I think I have obits for Sherman, George and Augusta. There may be other info in the dark recesses of my feeble mind that might work it's way out. Gary **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? Hi all, Haven't talked to you in a while Suzy. Had a computer crash and lost a lot of info. The Hutson cemetery as I have said is on the old Hutson homestead. Yes it is very small with only the names you have shown buried there. The Hutson brothers, Calvin and Milton buried at Penntown, used to maintain it although it is on private property owned by someone else. They are both now deceased so it will probably fall into disrepair. I have been to the cemetery a number of years ago. Joseph and Mary Thackery as well as other Thackery's and Hutson's are buried in the Salem cemetery south of the old Salem church. It is well maintained and is located south of the church and the Laughery township line in Delaware township and is a few miles SW of Ballstown and west of state highway 229. For some reason there is no cemetery listing on line for this cemetery. It has many graves in it so it isn't like it is a small cemetery. My ex wifes Hutson's are buried there. I have a Ripley county map and the cemetery is shown on it. The Thackery reunion held a number of years ago , which had almost 400 decendents attending, was held at the old Salem church. I helped plan the reunion. Suzy, if you will supply your address I will copy the Ripley county map and send you a copy with the location of the cemeteries marked. Hope this helps a little. I looked and could find no reference to him either. Either the reading is wrong or maybe Armated was either his middle name and he went by his first name or vica versa. I find a lot of them did that. That is a very unusual name and cant be found. I would check each one of the children and see if they cant be accounted for in each census and go from there. I even checked the Civil war records because he would have been just the right age to have been in the Civil War. No Luck! On the Sopia Thackery, Mary could have been her other name also. Wish I could help. There is a tree on Ancestry with Allen Hutson b. 1795 but it is marked private so no help there. Barb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It must be a very small cemetery, though. Joseph Thackerys name is ther but it says his wife is Sophia Thackery. There is no Thomas, Ruth or Ida listed. Joseph and Mary Thackery should be there and Thomas and Ruth Hutson and Ida Hutson (d: 2000) whose Obit lists it as where she will be interred. Also I have wondered about one thing for several years. My question is about Armated Hutson (not on your list but in the online list for the Hutson cemetery) Perhaps Armated's dates were misread on his stone. He is never shown in any census with Allen and Roxie but should ahve been if the online records of the grave are correct: "HUTSON, Armated 25 Oct 1887 aged 45Y 3M s/o Allen & Roxey" Born in 1842, he should have been shown up in the 1850 (age 8)and 1860 census (age 18) with Allen & Roxie but he didn't. Is it possible that the stone actually reads: "HUTSON, Armated 25 Oct 1837 aged 15y 3m s/o Allen & Roxey" Misreading 8 for 3 and 4 for 1 is a common graveyard error. This would mean Armated was an older child who came from VA with Allen and Roxie, but died not long after they arrived.
