It is beleived they are related too Peter b1769, Margaret Myers b.1770. PA? Parents would be unlikely because of age, but maybe grandparents of the following. Hello Happy to find this Ripley message board! I recently began looking into my wife's ancestry and discovered her great grandmother's name was Anna Cumming(s) Ridge (1878-1954). Her mother was Jane Cumming(s) (1835-abt 1912?) and she had a brother Lewis Cumming(s) (b 1871, d 1950s-ish?) and sister Ida Cumming(s) Barry (1873-1954) . I have found US Census records for Lewis Cumming(s) in Franklin, Ripley, Indiana around 1900 with his mother Anna Cumming(s) in residence. I see also that Lewis married Ella (last name unknown) and had children Ona, Ralph, Lewis, Charles, Gilbert and Luella at least. Does anyone in Ripley recognize these names? I'd love to learn more about this family from anyone who knows anything at all. Thanks Michael

It has come to my attention the misunderstanding that the eldest son Ruben F is actually the father of Robert,Milo and Ira born in Iowa. I believe that the wife of Ruben is named Dorothy from Indiana. Thi William Castor was a farmer, his grandson Milo was my great-grandfather. They all lived together which caused this discrepancy. I am looking for info about Milo who died in Pennfield, Ill when my grandpa was 4 or 5. My grandpa died when I was 8 & we know very little. I have her married to Squire Hill Knapp in Ripley County on December 23 1829 (Info per Indiana marriage list in Ripley County). From research it would appear that either William/Wilhelm or Peter Vanzile was her fater or atleast related to her. In later census forms she list her parents birthplaces as father-Holland, mother - New Jersy. There are severasl groups of Vanzile/Vanzile in Indiana at the time. I beleive she was born in Concord, Erir, New York on February 9, 1810 and died in Washington, Ripley, Indiana on June 9, 1902. She does list New York as her birthplace on several census's. Any help or ideas will be greatfuly accepted. Bob Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They got married in Jefferson County. Or Dearborn County. Or whatever county seat they could register the marriage at, usually a neighboring county. Sometimes it was because it was closer, sometimes it was because of parent's location, sometimes it was just a common-law marriage and there is no record of it.
