It appears they had one daughter, named Hannah, born abt. 1843. By 12-12-1846 Franklin Graves has married again to Catherine Allen. Both marriages in Ripley County IN. I suspect the Simmons wife died. Are there courthouse records from that time of marriage & death, or was there also a couthouse fire that destroyed records, as has been my brickwall in many IN counties. I am descended from Roswell Johnson through his daughter Amanda Melvina, who married first, Goff Moore Wilson; second, Reuben Gibbs Wilson; and third, James Blackwell. I have some research that I have done on him, as well as photographs taken at his grave site in Bethel Cemetery, Ripley County, Indiana in 2007. Roswell was indeed an early pioneer of Ripley County, coming in 1815. He married (apparently as Boswell Johnston) Patsy Barnett (Polly in my records) around 8 July 1798 in Montgomery County, VA (per marriage bond). Do you have any idea who William R. Johnson married? I may be able to look it up in my books. There is a William Johnson who has a marriage bond to Hannah Barnett on the same date in the same place. I've been told that he is either brother, or uncle to my William R Johnson. There was a Roswell Johnson listed as first Treasurer of Ripley county (which was formed in 1818). The DAR says that a Roswell Johnson was buried in Ripley county, and that he fought in the Revolutionary War. I know that the county seat, Versailles, is in Johnson township, where both Roswell and William were living in 1820. I'm inclined to believe that Roswell and William were both early pioneers, if not founders, of this area. Please reply if you would like further communication. Terri

Harveyville KS is about 25 miles from where I am right now in Topeka Kansas. Oh and the Abe Long....that's more than likely my great great grandfather Abram Lewis Long who also died in 1936. He is Strawder's first born, in 1840 in Ripley Co Indiana. Abe is a Civil War Vet fighting in the 39th Iowa Infantry and was a POW for almost a year and managed to survive! just fyi It's gotta be them, Abe lived in Dover Kansas which is a stones throw from Harveyville. I guess you are a distant cousin. It's funny how many of those you can run into if you perform large quantities of genealogical research. If you ever find out about some old family letters or a family bible of the Long's or anything from your great great grandmother Mary E. Long, that might help track down Strawder Long's (her dads) parents I would be very happy. Have Fun Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You are correct. Strawder was born in 1808, his first son Abram L. Long was born 1840 both in Ripley Co. Strawder married Martha Ellis and she died when Abram was 2. Strawder later married Amanda Mary Means and had many more children. Strawder's father Abraham Long is who I am researching. I am desperate to find out who Abraham's parents were. Abraham was born in 1774 in Virginia, his parents were early settlers of Kentucky, Abraham married Ruth Ann House in 1798 in Mercer Co. Kentucky. I know Strawder had many siblings and one was Simeon Irvin Long. Born in 1818 in Indiana. I'm not sure which County. Either Ripley or Jefferson. Any help would be wonderful!!!!!!!!!!! Rose, I may have some information for you. Please email me at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) so I can share some information with you. There are several people researching the Jennings family, including me. Joy Goodwin
I am looking for history of the Jennings family who had a daughter names Elizabeth born in 1827 in Ripley, married Cyrus F. Buchanan in 1849, had(as far as I know), Ezra Buchanan in 1854 and Eliza Jane in 1856. I dont know if they had some that died. Elizabeth died in 1859 in Ripley, I would love to know what happened. I need to know what happened to these two children, and who were her parents. Any ideas? Cyrus moved with the family to Indianapolis where he remarried an Elizabeth Kirby who was my husbands G grandmother. Cyrus died in Indianapolis in 1873, his son John Henry who was born in 1873, three months before his fathers death, is my husbands grandfather. I want to know about the first Elizabeths family. Rose Adams in CA.
